Week 4 Reading Diary continued: Jataka Tales

Week 4 Reading Diary:
Jataka Tales’ Reading B:
·       Golden Goose, the goose has an idea to give the woman and her two children some of his golden feathers to the family, so that they could sell them to make money and live in comfort. The goose was doing his good deed over and over, but the mother become greedy and plucked off all of his feathers, in which the feathers turned white and no value.
·       The Stupid Monkeys, this story has a message of trusting someone to do something simple and they do it, but do not do it in a proper manner, in which they actually mess it all up. The monkey had a simple task of watering the trees, but did not know when they had given the trees enough water for them to live, so they pulled them up and they ended up dying.
·       The Cunning Wolf, the wolf, who is usually the tricky character is actually the victim of this story, but uses his intelligence to get him out of the complicated situation brought his way by the dangerous man.
·       The Woodpecker and the Lion, the woodpecker was brave enough and had enough integrity to help the lion get the bone out of his mouth, even though he was putting his life on line. He wanted help from the lion, but the lion refused since he spared the woodpecker’s life. This made the woodpecker realize he could not trust the lion ever again.
